ABOUT US
I am Christina Minamizawa, and I founded GloballyGOOD in 2011 after writing a book 'Weird and WOW' about Vietnamese pop culture in 2010, to celebrate the 1000 year anniversary of Hanoi City, Vietnam.
With an extensive travelling background and the fact I have worked or volunteered for NGO's for 20+ years incuding starting my own Social Enterprise in 1987 with a friend to support a local district nurse who attended accidents in my small remote village in New Zealand.
Later while living for 14 years mostly around South East Asia (Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia), I came to understand the problems that grass roots Social Enterprises experience, and how often they know how to fix their problems, but just don't have the time/people power, money or expertise to help themselves..
The masses often donate to large International NGO's (Non Government Organisation) as feel they can trust these TV Advertising but do not realize that much of their kind donations are often spent on overheads etc, whilst small grass roots Social Enterprises get overlooked as people are unsure who they can trust and never sure what help they need.
This gave us an idea, to bring together my passion for socially conscious travel with connecting people directly to verified grass roots Social Enterprises as both concepts go hand in hand. With the utmost respect for local customs and traditions, and a few local words to throw around one can change a travelers and locals experience exponentially.
These are some of the tools we need to help globalization be more respectful with locals and even help in our own multicultural communities that are dotted around most communities. .
Currently we have two small blogs that do not represent our business model but holds:
110+ bits of info about Vietnam's rich cultural heritage
100 Social Enterprises in Vietnam.
